Snags Sports Bar held it 3rd annual "Critter
Benefit" for WCAHS! This year,
Snags owner, Nancy Ratzenberger, changed things up a little bit. Rather than a poker run, the event started
at 2:00 pm with a D.J., silent action and Chinese raffle. Once again dinner included delicious grilled
turkey, sweet corn and a variety of extra salads and desserts brought by those
attending the fundraiser. This year
also included a meat raffle and ring toss game. After a very windy but fun filled day, winners names of the action
and raffle were called with a few other drawings for cool free stuff too! The day didn't end there though, at 7:00 pm
the band "Those Guys" were up and playing! A whopping $1,500.00 dollars was raised for the shelter. A huge thanks goes out to the businesses,
individuals and others who made a donation and also to all the people that
helped out, making this a fun and successful fundraising event.
WCAHS S.N.A.P PROGRAM
Washburn County Area Humane Society recently received a very generous
donation which has been designated for altering companion animals for low
income individuals or families in Washburn County. We all know that the overpopulation of pets is a huge problem and
the only way to get these numbers reduced is by altering as many pets as
possible! Although WCAHS has always
offered a SNAP (spay neuter all pets) program, we are now able to provide this
service with little to no cost to those who qualify. If you do not have a current veterinarian for your pet, you can
call one of these clinics who are participating in the WCAHS SNAP program: Care
Animal Clinic, Creatures Great and Small, Cumberland Veterinary Clinic,
Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic and Spooner Veterinary Clinic.
