Electronics Recycling Program

The Washburn County Area Humane Society has a project to recycle a variety of electronics to raise money for the shelter.  Please drop off your items at the shelter during regular business hours.  Items that can be recycled include the following:
  • Inkjet cartridges
  • Toner cartridges (Brother, Canon, Dell, LEX, and HP)
  • Cell phones, Smartphones or IPhones
  • Digital cameras and camcorders
  • GPS units
  • Graphing calculators

Beggar Banks

We collected almost $1500 during the past year from our beggar banks.   Thanks to all who deposit their spare change.  We would like to acknowledge the area businesses who so graciously make space for our cat and dog  banks:  Dog Patch Grooming, Economart, River Street Restaurant, Spooner Bake Shop, Spooner Mercantile, Spooner Outlet, Spooner Veterinary Clinic, Creatures Great and Small Veterinary Clinic, Holiday Station South, White Birch Printing, Ace Hardware, Holiday Express, Nick's Restaurant, Sathers Jewelers, Spooner Market and Grill, Lipsie Pines, C & R Store, The Shop at A & H, Twin Oaks, Pair O Lakes Restaurant, Trego Travel Center, ICO in Trego, The Prime, Through the Woods Cafe, Country Pride, BP Station, Ed's Pit Stop in Birchwood, Birchwood Cafe, Pioneer Bar, Henson's Foods, Walker Lumber, Sportsman's Headquarters, Long Branch Saloon.

Aluminum Can Recycling

The money collected is used for the continuing care of the animals and maintenance of the shelter. $838.35 worth of aluminum cans were collected from June 8-September 21! Please help make a difference by saving your aluminum cans and dropping them off any time in the collection bin outside the shelter at 1300 Roundhouse Road in Spooner.
